The Joneses
Movies...distracting, entertaining, keeping your mind away from reality or making you think...
Well, in my case killing time when I can't sleep and don't wanna think about any of my problems ANYMORE. Cause seriously, how is it possible that for a day, an hour, no, a second...everything turns in 360 degrees...TWICE. And things you never thought were possible start "manifesting". It's good when those things are GOOD. But sometimes they are not exactly what you've always wished for. And you thought- If this ever happens to me I will..."Pass out" or "lose my breath" or "my heart will skip a beat"...or "I WILL kill him" or "I will never talk to her AGAIN" or...fill in the blank
but they just happen and...you are still there. Speechless.
You feel a huge emptiness and darkness. For a second you don't hear anything. Until the empty spot starts filling up with light again, It might take a few seconds...or years..depends on the "things". But point was- YOU DON"T DIE, as you thought you were if this hypothetical thing ever happened to you. Or at least- I never died so far. Actually, it might turn out this was the best thing ever happened to you. But you can't know it yet.
But this is a good one(erm ...movie...) The Joneses. Bulgarianprincess says everybody should see it! Not because of the consumerism shit. We're all in the trap of consuming anyway. Things, things, things...things we want, things we have, things we wish for, things others have, thing we envy them for...
I saw different thing in that movie though. I saw FAMILY.
(test assigment number 1: count how many times the author used to word "thing" so far and suggest some synonyms to improve her style)
Maybe, because recently I've been thinking about those stuff. About my family. And how much I really miss it. And how much I've neglected it in the last few years, because there were "more important" things at the time (keep counting)...more important than an anniversary, than somebody's birthday, than a holiday with the family or...just a family dinner... JUST...
there is no just.
I mean- what could have been more important than that? Looking back I don't even remember the occasions I've missed all that family stuff for. I remember what I've missed, I don't remember WHY. Oh, I know why. Because I thought- FAMILY is always gonna be there no matter what, other things might not. But...it seems like, guess what- at the end,THERE ARE NO OTHER THINGS. Like what things could make you happier??? I can't thing of any. At least not right now.
When we are on top or at the bottom, we are always alone. That's a quote from that other movie I saw yesterday by the way. The Solitary man.
It was about some other stuff. But about a family too. Well, a broken one. And a guy who thought there were so many more important stuff.
So, thank God for movies. To wake me up a bit. I mean...I've been woken up, that's why I saw them the other night. But to remind me again, that everything I am now, here, wherever that is, is because of my family, because of their love and support and care and because even if I was never there, they were always there for me. And my family, of course, is THE BEST FAMILY. :p
Families. They don't make them that strong anymore. No, no, no.
Soon, they might not make them at all. Make sure you get a vintage one.
But this is part of the evolution, isn't it.
Soon pupils will have to google the meaning of the word "family". And this might be an approximate possible definition:
"The 21st century was characterized by the transition from the post-globalization to the new age of teleportation. The method of teleportation has been introduced in the 22th century and become a focal element of modern society, substituting economy (see article economy).
A human's life in the early 21st century was seen as a permanent struggle, that one was supposed to go through blindly, since the sense of life hasn't been known yet.
Human beings were grown up in social entities, called families. A family was formed by a male and a female. They created their offspring and thus automatically changed the role they occupied in society and gained additional social status of parents-a mother(female) and a father(male). The results of the reproductive cycle were called children and their number could vary, depending on many factors. (social, cultural, financial, and in some countries such as China, the biggest empire known before the age of teleportation, a legal factor).
A family was based on mutual approval from both individuals and would ideally be based on a sentimental feeling called love (see article Love). The family as legal social entity was certified by the church in the earlier periods (see article religion) and/or by the state in the latest periods of its existence as a social entity.
Its role was to live together in a group, reproduce, extend/ exchange knowledge about life and pass the knowledge already gained, to those ones coming after. At the end of 21st century the family lost its popularity. A form of dis-functional families characteristic for the last phase of the post global economy era could be observed only in some societies on Papua New Guinea"
Kind of sad, isn't it?
But isn't it called evolution. Nobody liked evolution anyway. EVER. Eventually, they started liking it afterwords, but they were always against it in the process of becoming. People were always against something they didn't know. Fought and struggled, like cockroaches. Don't ask me examples, I can't think of any now. It's 2 am again. But I'm sure they fought. Such as that, that the earth is flat, for example. Somebody, who suggested it was not flat and had the guts to stand up and speak, eventually had to die. SO that they thought: Ok, this dude died for that. It might be round after all. (there was this kind of story, right. They believed the Earth is flat. Come on. Really?Everybody knows it isn't)
So with family too. It might die.
One thing about cockroaches: You never know, if they are gonna die or live. Some need one hit, some don't die, no matter what you throw at them or spray them with,or how loud you scream or jump around, kind of immortal cockroaches. Others, are really fast and escape. Hey, I don't have cockroaches at home. I've seen them in Japan. And in Singapore. Huge ones. And besides, they mutate. So that...they don't die out so easily.
Ok, so watch those movies. Call your family to tell them you love them.
Not the movies, the family!
I don't need to call mine, they read my blog...
And have a good night/day!
