If something happens once, it might never happen again. But if it happens a second time, there will definitely be a third time!
This is the basic principal I have used during my 3 months stay in Paris to stereotype everything as "typically french" or not.
It's been few days since I'm back in Hamburg, and those are the "french" things I already miss:
1) Champagne/Chocolat/ Macarons/ Crepes/ Fromage de chevre everywhere, on any occasion for everybody!
2) Jazz (the black cat at my flat)
3) Sitting outside in a coffee/restaurant/bar in the wintertime with gas heaters above your head! Warm and cozy!
4) Empty perfume bottles as decoration in WC- almost everybody has it...
5) French accent- funny but first thing almost everybody will say is "I am sorry, my English is very bad!"..although in my opinion everybody could understand or talk English if they made a little effort, but they just prefer "I am sorry, my English is very bad" and even when they talk in English it sounds like French! So cute!
*many French people are mixing up HUNGRY/ANGRY- i love it because funny things come out of this confusion
6) " Do you know NUTELLA/SMART/ KINDER SURPRISE chocolate?"(...fill in the blank)- the idea of the French that they have invented/discovered/created the world and whatever you have in France you can't find anywhere else...or maybe I just look as if I came from somewhere far from any civilization!
7) French "rudeness"- at first it looks like people or more precisely Parisians are rude but- trust me- you would be the same if there were those tourists all over the place, not knowing where they are going, stopping to take a picture at every corner...plus how can you consider anybody who is kissing everybody on both cheeks every time they meet as RUDE?!?!? No! People are not rude, they are soooo French...(consider it as a compliment)!
8) Eiffel tower!
9) Drinking tea/coffee from a BOWL, that you would normally use for soup- I love it!
10) Cinema-well I didn't particularly benefit from that, but there is something like a monthly "abbonament" for the cinema which costs you 30 euros and you can go see as many movies as you can! Other countries should learn from the French!
...BUT MOST OF ALL I WILL MISS THE PEOPLE I MET, WHO MADE MY STAY UNFORGETTABLE! THE PLACE IS NOTHING WITHOUT THE PEOPLE, EVEN IF IT IS THEONE AND ONLY PARIS!!!
Bulgarianprincess heading to her kingdom tomorrow and wishing HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO EVERYBODY!!!
Haha, your analysis about Paris is interesting!! But for Cinema, I pay only 19euros for one month. Now I am buying a lot of Fromage as a present for my friends. From Masa
