Das Leben ist kein Ponyhof
Hello again and sorry for the big break. But writing 409504359 times "Barcelona was great and La rambla is so colorful and the shopping is amazing" wouldn't be very original, would it? I get to stay always at the same spot, so I never get any further than that colorful market with fresh squeezed juices for one euro each... I'd better find some better stuff to bore you to dead with, until life brings me somewhere exciting again...
Talking of Life, (capital L!), as an inspiration of all there is...
all ever has been
&
all ever will be...
BTW all good things start with an "L"
such as:
the already mentioned so precious L-I-F-E
the always desired when not there L-O-V-E,
the L-E-S-S-O-N-S you get to learn in life,
L-A-Z-Y-N-E-S-S to enjoy delightful moments,
L-E-M-O-N-A-D-E, that you get to make when life serves you lemons
L-A-U-G-H-I-N-G, when you want to cry,
L-O-B-S-T-E-R-S, you get to taste when life treats you right
and if you were a Japanese "Lice" would certainly be one of those very important life-saving words on your L-list...
(oh I almost made some kind of lame rhyme, yuk)
......
But it's summer.
And nobody is sitting home blogging. Life is too much of a "muse" itself, so that sometimes you just wanna go out and LIVE it, instead of "philosophizing" around.
It (LIFE) is like my balcony flowers. I planted them in spring, watered what was first just earth in a bowl. Checked everyday if anything is coming out. And nothing was coming, nothing was coming, nothing was com...
I thought: "Oh well, German summer is not too hot, so if they don't grow, I tried my best, wrong time, wrong place, I'm sorry seeds."
Then one day suddenly I looked out the window and thought:
"WOW, was there a radioactive rain over night?!?!"
Those things were huge. And within some weeks of love and care
<3 <3 <3
the first flower blossoms were there. This fact caused an overall excitement and hope in our girly apartment. And also some hope that, well, even when things don't go so well, flowers still grow unpercieved. And so will everything, even though it was first just a bowl of dirt.
Patience...is a key element in LIFE
(oh, the flowers were a metaphor for life here, you got that already, didn't you?!?).
So the idea was that sometimes you do something, and expect something good to happen.
AND
sit there
AND
wait
AND
give all your attention to it
AND
it still doesn't happen, not as long as you're watching.
Then you think:
"Damn flowers. I'm never gonna plant any flowers ever again here. The sun is not strong enough,
OR
the earth is not dark enough,
OR
the wind is too strong (in other words blame in on the others),
OR
I didn't water them enough (blame yourself)
OR
the seeds were...whatever-you-got-the-idea (blame it on superior forces you have no influence upon)
BUT those mythological FLOWERS DID GROW
and blossomed for what is now 3 weeks or so.
They were a reason to go out and sit at the balcony and have coffee and talk and just be proud of having had planted flowers once in your life. And they were getting prettier and bigger and pinker each day. They were the most beautiful flowers I have ever seen in my life! (exaggerating to make it more dramatic)
Until one day
...after they have reached their PEAK and accomplished their (well pretty much senseless) mission in life
THEY WERE GONE!
No more flowers! No more color! And I happened to notice that only last night, when I came home around midnight, after an exhausting shooting, I found a note from my flatmate saying that she suddenly decided to go away for some (hopefully only few) weeks...
So I sat here, on the usual spot on the balcony...and she was not there where she usually used to sit... and this is when I noticed that the flowers were not where they used to be either. They must have been "dead" for days!
And this is how all good things in life come to an a-la-Nelly-Furtado END...flames into dust, lovers to friends...flowers...also into dust...
See, this is the idea- LIFE IS NOT A "PONY HOF".
(What would be: "LIFE IS NOT A BOWL OF CHERRIES" in English.
But Ponyhof, a "pony yard", is kind of a cuter thing to imagine than a bowl of cherries, since mentioning the word PONY always brings pictures from that stupid show I used to watch when I must have been 6 and respectively makes me burst into laughter when I picture it now)
So, I got to hear the
"LIFE IS NOT A PONY YARD"-saying
from the make-up artist on the shoot yesterday, when while shooting the last look, short before midnight, he came to me to retouch my lipstick, while me and the other girl leaning on some door of a night club where we were shooting and crodws were getting around exclaiming: " Oh, look, a professional photo shoot!" and of course making lame comments such as...(ugh doesnt't matter don't wanna go out of the context here) So the make up artist came up to us and said some encouraging words such as:
"You are doing great!"
"We are almost finished"
"Last shot"
finishing by the infamous: Das Leben ist kein...
The point was that after a long shooting, not getting any food, and wearing high heels 2 sizes smaller than your actual size all day
DAS LEBEN IST KEIN PONYHOF
is the funniest thing you can hear, specially having those images left around from childhood in your fucked up mind...
Hell yeah! Life surely is not one of those pinkish PONYHOFs, and thank God for that!
But don't worry!
This life is a test.
It is only a test!
Had it been an actual life you would have received further instructions on where to go and what to do!!!
Now that you know if from me, your favorite philosopher of nonsense science, you should think about your approach to that test. And how you make use of it... Wait, I think I wrote about the rabbit hole already...So this time just go out and:
dance...
as though no one is watching you.
love...
as though you have never been hurt before.
sing...
as though no one can hear you.
live...
as though heaven is on earth.
BECAUSE:
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
Mark Twain
